I am a campervan enthusiast who is really happy to be able to share my love of all things campervan with you. I have travelled far and wide in my VW, and there really is no better way to explore our beautiful country than with the freedom and ease of a well-equipped van.
My first experience of campervanning was nearly 40 years ago when I came home from school and found that my Dad had sold our caravan and replaced it with a lovely, pale blue Ford Transit Mk2 campervan, very like the one in the image below. It didn’t last long because squeezing all 6 of us in was a bit of a challenge, so Mum & Dad returned to the dark side with a new caravan after just one year. But I have been hooked ever since. The cleverness of the layout, the cool image (yes, even with a Transit), and the freedom of being able to just pack up and move on seemed so sensible and a lot of fun. So when I was finally able to afford a really good VW T5 campervan, I jumped at the chance.
The decision to start renting out my van to other people was easy to make: why wouldn’t I want to share the fun? And it’s a great way to try and make a living.
I now have 2 campervans: my lovely VW and a really cute Mazda Bongo. They are very different beasts but both offer all the fun and ease of campervan adventure:
The VW is really well fitted out, with bed space for up to 4 people, a super-efficient heater and a high quality pop top. It is a very economical, 2 litre turbo diesel, and is as easy to use as a large car. I love this van.
The Mazda is strictly a 2 berth van and is rather more basic than the VW. But it is great fun, really easy to use and offers excellent value for money. You can hire the van for less than the cost hiring a car and staying in a B&B: and you get the freedom of the open road! What more could you ask for?
Whichever van you hire, you get fully comprehensive insurance; full instruction on how to get the best out of it; a fully fitted kitchen; sat nav; and the freedom to go where you want, when you want.
